After teaming up with Nike for an in-store exclusive colourway of the Waffle One, Social Status is reconnecting with sportswear brand Beaverton for an all-new collection of Dunks. Four offerings are included in this new team, two of which are Dunk Lows designed for preschoolers and toddlers, while Dunk Mids are designed for adults.
According to initial reports, the inspiration for this impending collection is inspired by the free lunches that children who live in underserved and downtown communities receive during the summer. Therefore, both sides bring here colors inspired by milk cartons and playful packaging to decorate the figure appropriately.
The first pair adopts an almost strawberry milk-like pattern while various shades of pink dress its overlays as well as the leather tips, quarters and collars. The swooshes have been modified with a thicker TPU gel form and the laces arrive as a cord. To play on the milk theme, the shoe’s materials – which include Nike Sportswear, Social Status, YV Velvet, nubuck, and more – are listed on the mid side as if they were the shoe’s ingredients. At the bottom, the midsoles get an ivory finish while the tread finishes things off in an olive hue. “Sell by Fall 2021” expiration tags are also planted inside the kicks that essentially hint at a release in the coming months.
Its output brother translates into a more chocolatey atmosphere. A creamy shade lines the toes and quarters, and is complemented with rustic brown overlays. Milk-like chocolate browns land on the collars and overlays adjoining the throat, while powerful pink gel-like Swooshes stand out on the side and mid sides. The stockings are featured with off-white midsoles and bright blue outsoles.
The packaging takes these kicks to an even higher level as the boxes are decorated with retro co-branding and box contents on the sides.
Early reports predict these declines are expected in August, but Nike has yet to confirm this.
