Success doesn’t just happen. For most successful entrepreneurs, courage and patience are virtues they must cultivate. For social media expert Lewis Webster, self-acceptance and constant learning are also important.
Lewis knows poverty intimately. As a child, he grew up in the most difficult part of the city where he was born. Because resources were never sufficient, he learned to stand up very early on. At 11, he was a budding entrepreneur buying and selling items on eBay, building websites for people and even custom game consoles.
At 19, Lewis began helping his best friend run a music label. Over time, he learned more about the music industry and gained knowledge about marketing, social media, and event planning. Soon after, they signed their first contract with Spotify. Lewis also hosted his first live event.
For over 5 years Lewis learned and honed his skills. Recently, he teamed up with another media mogul to open Blackspire Capital, their social media consulting firm. Together, they bring a wealth of expertise to the digital space that they make available to other companies. Their main services include advice on social media growth, brand authority and management. The company serves clients from all countries and languages.
Lewis also bought his first investment property a few years ago and is now expanding it. Years after financial security was just a dream, he is now a successful entrepreneur working across multiple income streams. From his trip, there are three things he finds useful.
1. Your state of mind and how you see yourself
He said, “It doesn’t matter where you come from, what your parents did or what your friends are doing. You can literally change your life if you want it enough. When the small voice in his mind whispers that he can’t, he remembers how much he has already overcome and finds the strength to move on.
2. Strong computer skills
No matter what industry you are in, IT skills will help you do a lot without outsourcing. You will also save time and money if you do some of the work yourself.
3. Social media skills
The world is now one big digital space where businesses and their customers interact. Today, it’s extremely difficult to get anything started if you don’t have at least a basic knowledge of how social media works. This knowledge will help you know how to leverage your relationships’ attention to your business or product.
Throughout his journey, Lewis struggled with mental health issues without knowing what they were. It always happened when he wasn’t as productive as he thought he was, so he was always looking for more work. Three years ago, he finally accepted that he had challenges and started working on them. Although he still meets them every now and then, he can now deal with them better than he could before.
Lewis’s journey is still ongoing. Commercially, he is working to grow and expand his business to become the world’s number 1 social media consulting firm. He is also exploring a new networking business that aims to revolutionize how B2B transactions work.
Lewis Webster is proof that dreams come true when you get down to business. If he has overcome his predicament and built successful businesses, it is also possible for anyone else.
