Lots of people are willing to shake up their routine and Billy Eichner is no different. As everyone gets up from the couch, step away from the screen, and return to the bright, daring world, the reality is that there may be a little period of adjustment. Yet who isn’t ready to toast some real social interaction?
On occasion, some people might like to rely on a little liquid courage to step out of their comfort zone. While everyone has the ability to be themselves at all times, those first seconds of adjustment can be a bit awkward. Maybe this screen presented a slightly better version of yourself. Like this picturesque background, the image could have been a little more altered than the reality.
Neon Zebra and Billy Eichner want people to feel a little more comfortable with their IRL social interaction. Through the IRL Again campaign, the idea is to give everyone realistic advice, relevant words of wisdom and even a simple way to serve a tasty cocktail.
What does Billy Eichner recommend for reconnecting with friends?
While these virtual happy hours and weekly video calls kept people connected, sometimes they presented a “better version” of ourselves. Getting away from the screen can come with a bit of fear, but that feeling shouldn’t overwhelm people.
Eichner shared, “After a year of Zoom conference call nightmares and kitchen failures, there’s so much I can’t wait to do IRL, but there’s also the fear of being socially awkward and saying and doing the “wrong” thing after being home for So long. Or social anxiety in general. That’s why I joined the “IRL Again” campaign with Neon Zebra to give some fun tips for ‘help her feel a little less intimidating to reappear in the real world. “
While coming back to groups and new situations might require some adjustment, Eichner believes everyone is in the same boat. While he may be willing to talk to almost anyone, others might need a little more encouragement.
Eichner said, “I think it’s helpful to remember that almost everyone feels as nervous and anxious as you are. I’m just saying try to remember it and not go into social situations with huge expectations. Relax, have fun with your friends and enjoy it for what it is. Life is short, so don’t dwell too much on your insecurities.
As people rediscover their voices in real life, these spontaneous conversations will become even more common. Eichner shares: “Absolutely! I think we all crave social interaction whether we know the person or not. Once we get back to IRLing, I think we’ll all notice how much of an impact these random little chats have on our days.
While all of these conversations can be quite entertaining, sometimes unexpected moments can arise. Eichner suggests that people just kiss him. “There are no real life scripts or teleprompers, so I just own it! Sometimes those hard times can become the best memories. I’m just trying to cope with it, to recognize the awkwardness in a way. fun and ignore it. “
While some people have tons of self-confidence to just “make do with it,” others might need a little liquid encouragement. Eichner has his favorite drink.
For Eichner, his “go-to icebreaker cocktail is a Margarita with the Neon Zebra Cocktail Mixer. Simply pour a can in 3 oz of your favorite liquor (I use tequila) and you will have two refreshing cocktails to share with a friend.
With summer entertainment in full effect, Eichner is like many others. He is “delighted to see my friends again.” As nice as it is to have an excuse to say no to plans all the time and stay home, I am a very outgoing person so I love to travel and hang out with my friends this summer.
It’s time to shake up this routine. Put the sweatshirts back in the drawer, put on some cute sandals, grab a Neon Zebra and whip up a nice cocktail. Memorable real-life moments are right at your fingertips.
What are you looking forward to doing this summer? Will a Neon Zebra cocktail make it even more exciting?
