Music has always been therapeutic for me. It gets me through hard times, puts feelings I can’t say into words, and music uplifts me. I couldn’t have made it through my life and hard times without the power of music that I love. I have been looking forward to the NeedToBreathe concert I went to tonight for months and months. I was lucky enough to score second row pit seats! NeedToBreathe is my all-time favorite band, and they give the best concerts. This was my third concert of theirs, and it was the best by far!
The day started out rough with my neighbors waking me up at 6 in the morning hammering and making lots of noise outside my window. We later took the kids to the park, where they didn’t have all that much fun. It’s hard for me as a mom seeing them not have the time of their lives. I love their carefree natures. I long to have carefree moments where I can let loose.
In the afternoon, I started getting ready and planning for my date night with my husband- dinner and the concert. I fretted over the outfit- casual, dressy, or fun and flirty. I am usually in mom role and know what to wear. It’s predictable and safe. I received advice from my husband to wear the fun and flirty party outfit, and I am so glad I listened to him. I hadn’t had a chance to wear my new hot pink Old Navy dress yet. I picked out a matching headband and matching nail polish. It’s so fun preparing and getting primped. The makeup, the nails, and a cute outfit. Dinner was yummy at a local chinese joint that I had yet to try out. But all I could think about was the concert coming up!
I was nervous and excited when we arrived at the venue. I couldn’t wait to see where our seats were actually located but first we bought shirts and pre-ordered the upcoming NeedToBreathe album. It’s coming out in the fall of 2013, with no exact release date yet. The only place that it was available to preorder was the concert. I will most likely update at a later date about pre-orders and album name.
Our seats were amazing! It was second row in the pit but our seats were on the side right after the first row stopped so we were actually right next to the stage with no one in front of us. We were almost right in front of Bo, who is my favorite band member. I was wishing I had a camera with me but all I had was my phone so I took some pictures that turned out okay.
I was amazed by how magical the whole concert was when I was sitting that close. I got a glimpse of that carefree nature of my kids at the concert. I was able to forget the cares of the world, the overwhelming depression, and just dance, sing, and feel free. There is nothing that comes close to that feeling of feeling free to dance and sing as loud as you want. I swayed and danced around in front of that stage with my hot pink dress not caring if others thought I was a bad dancer or looked silly.
It was the last concert of the Drive All Night Tour 2013, so there were jokes and pranks that had me in stitches. Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors opened, and he was a funny man. He walked across the stage without his shirt with a big drum during one of NeedToBreathe’s first songs. Later, he came to sing Stand By Me sounding like a chipmunk (sucked in helium). I just can’t say how the atmosphere creates a great concert. The music was amazing by both Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors and NeedToBreathe. Nothing could have made it better (except meeting the band, of course). That’s my dream…for another day.
Check out NeedToBreathe on Twitter, Facebook, or their website- http://needtobreathe.net/. If you are a fan, join the Breather’s page, which is the official street team of NeedToBreathe. I love the forums, and the chance to spread the word about the band.
Have you heard any songs by NeedToBreathe before? What are your favorites songs by them? My absolute favorite song is The Outsiders but More Time, Washed By The Water, The Reckoning, and Slumber are all some of my favorites.
