It’s time to sound the Octo-Alert. Come one, come all, children can now play with their favorite Octonauts friends in the comfort of their own homes play acting their favorite episodes. Fisher-Price has come out with a new line of fun and exciting Octonauts toys.
For those who have never heard of this preschool show, it’s about a crew of eight talented animals who go on underwater adventures every episode. They live in their homebase “Octopod” and use their various aquatic vehicles and underwater gadgets to explore, rescue, and protect the creatures and habitats around them. The crew consists of Captain Barnacles Bear, Kwazii Kitten, Peso Penguin, Dashi Dog, Dr. Shellington Sea Otter, Tweak Bunny, Professor Inkling Octopus, and Tunip The Vegimal (part animal and part vegetable). Octonauts can be found on Disney Junior in the US, Treehouse in Canada, and Cbeebies in the UK.
We have really enjoyed the new toys. My kids love creating an undersea adventure, rescuing a shark, catching manta rays, and seeing the toys change color in water. There is a wide variety of characters, undersea vehicles, and fun gadgets.
My 5 year old’s favorite is the Octonauts Gup-D Mission Vehicle and Barnacles. It has so many different kinds of play with this toy. You can go on adventure with Captain Barnacles and the Manta Ray Gup-D mission vehicle in or out of water. There is a little hole in the front of the vehicle that blows air if you press down on the back fin. You can put the net around the hole to throw the net and capture the manta ray. Or you can put the air tube around the hole and connect the other side of the tube to Barnacles suit so he can go scuba diving. My kids, especially, love this feature because their Daddy scuba dives. The manta ray changes color in the warm water. The MSRP is $14.99.
My 3 year old’s favorite is the Octonauts Octo-Compass. The kids love playing with a compass and trying to find their way when they are playing that they are lost. It says fun phrases from the Octonauts characters Barnacles, Kwazii and Peso. There is, also, creature sounds and an Octo-Alert signal. The kids love pretending with it and pressing all the buttons. The MSRP is 12.99.
My 1 year old loved all of the toys the same but she first played with the Octonauts Gup-B Mission Vehicle and Kwazii. The toy can be played both in land or in the water. Lietenant Kwazii captures the shark to try to save it. The shark changes color in the warm water. The MSRP is 14.99.
The Kwazii and the Slime Eel toy is really fun. It comes with Lieutenant Kwazii, a water-squirting eel, a treasure chest, an underwater helmet, a snail, a squirting puffer fish, and a net. The kids seemed to love the treasure chest the best in this set. It opens and closes and shows treasure at the bottom of the chest. My 1 year old loved the snail and puffer fish. The puffer fish and snail change color in warm water. The MSRP is $9.99.
The other fun toy we received is the Rescue Assortment Barnacles and Tunip. This package includes Captain Barnacles, a squirting Tunip, a starfish, an eel, an underwater helmet, a clam, and a life perserver. The starfish and eel change colors in warm water. The clam opens and closes; if you drop the clam into the water with Tunip in it, the clam will open up as it is sinking, releasing Tunip. We love the removable diving helmets for both Barnacles and Kwazii (toy above). The MSRP is $9.99.
