We recently were accepted to host a Monster Bowl viewing party for Hotel Transylvania, which came out on DVD/Blu-ray on January 29th.
HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA, Dracula’s lavish five-stake resort, is a place where monsters & their families can live it up, free to be the monsters they are without humans to bother them. On one special weekend, Dracula has invited some of the world’s most famous monsters — Frankenstein and his bride, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and more — to celebrate his daughter Mavis’s 118th birthday. For Drac, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem — but his world could come crashing down when one ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis. Starting JANUARY 29TH, you can experience HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA in the comfort of your own home on BLU-RAY™ & DVD! HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA’S star-studded cast includes ADAM SANDLER as the voice of Dracula, SELENA GOMEZ as Mavis, KEVIN JAMES as a clumsy and loveable Frankenstein, CEELO GREEN as the musically talented Mummy, and ANDY SAMBERG as the hotel’s human intruder, Jonathan. Plus many more!

We were given two recipes to try that was is keeping with the Monster Bowl Theme. The first one was Scream Cheese Taco Dip which had cream cheese, sour cream, bean dip, taco seasoning and cheddar cheese. It was dangerously delicious!
The second recipe was for Green Sludge Punch, which combined lemon-lime soda, lemonade concentrate, limeade concentrate and lime sherbert. Our local store didn’t have lime sherbert, so I got rainbow sherbert which was really fun!
Hotel Transylvania was an extremely cute movie! Everyone loved it. It was a toss up between the kids and the adults who liked it more, actually. I thought it had a lot of fun sight gags that really added to the humor and we laughed out loud quite a lot.
Mavis makes the cutest sad bat face to her dad Dracula and I can totally relate to that face! My 2.5 year old daughter just starting to learn that an adorable face will help her get want she wants. She gives us her “best smile” and says “puh-leeeeezzeee”. How can you say no to that! Dracula couldn’t say no to Mavis’ sad bat face either, so I guess Dracula and I are in the same boat.
Speaking of turning into bats, Mavis and Dracula have some awesome powers. Personally, I’m jealous of being able to turn into bat – especially if I could do sad bat face. But I also like Dracula’s scary angry face, which scares everyone. That could be useful! I also like their mind control powers. Because, lets be honest, sometimes that would be very handy to have!
For Mavis’ 118th birthday, Dracula pulls out all the stops with an “Around the World” theme, a monster band, and dancing mummies. I think a Monster party would be so fun! But I think my favorite part of her party and one that I would love for my daughter’s birthday, is that Mavis is surrounded by all of her friends and family. I think that is the best part.
I really recommend checking out Hotel Transylvania. It is fun for the whole family and will appeal to boys and girls alike. My daughter has already asked to watch the “Mon-ter Movie” again!
